When you look at this L pendant, with it's embroidery lifted from an antique linen handkerchief, you almost feel you could fold it up and lay it in your top drawer with all your other hankies. It is amazing how this little handkerchief looks as if it was touched by an imaginary silver loving Midas, freezing the fine linen, freeing it from the possibility of ever fraying or waring thin. I think I love it best at the neck, but when it is placed on a long leather chord, that becomes my favorite.
This elegant “L” monogram is from an antique linen batiste, which was hand embroidered handkerchief circa 1935. The rolled edges of this piece bring this antique linen to life, the rolled bail on the reverse can accommodate small to midsized chains and pearls.

A Magical Evening
Riding in a open sleigh through the snow covered fields under the twinkling stars, Lillian snuggles in closer to her Beau. It has been a Christmas to remember and her parents had given her special permission to go on this late night sleigh ride. Topping a hill the sled slows to a stop. As Lillian is helped out of the sleigh she is then lead into a covering of trees and gasps. A table has been made up out of a fallen tree with a cream blank from her house and there are fresh poinsettias sitting in a vase. Curious Lillian steps closer to the makeshift table and sees her favorite embroidered handkerchief with her initial on it. As she reaches to pick it up wondering why it was there Beau quickly grabbed it first. Startled Lillian looks up to where he would be and notices he is down on one knee. As her hands start to flutter to her face Beau starts to unwrap the handkerchief. Nestled securely inside is his grandmothers wedding ring that he is now offering to Lillian in asking to share their lives in marriage. With a single glistening tear that Beau wiped away with her handkerchief Lillian whispers yes.
