Peregrine Elia arrived on Ellis Island from Sicily on the eve of her 8th birthday. A sad orphan whose parents passed on the boat passage over from pneumonia. Now on Ellis Island Peregrine was placed in quarantine till she was proven to show no signs of the illness as well. While in quarantine Peregrine’s name was changed to Peggy as it sounded more American and she would more likely be adopted. Sobbing into her pillow Peregrine clung to the one thing she had left from her family. A monogrammed pendant her parents had given her before they left Sicily. Her name may be Peggy on paper but she would always be her mom and dad’s little Peregrine.
