Small Town Girl
Tillie gulped as she took her first step towards her new life. To a small town girl from a little town called Pottersville near the Adirondack Mountains, this journey downriver in a steamboat on the Hudson had been the biggest adventure of her short life. Now walking along the bank of the Hudson towards the streets of Manhattan, she could feel the mixture of excitement and nervousness setting in. She is finally following her dream to perform on Broadway. Clutching her suitcase, she thinks of her family back home and remembers with sadness the tearful goodbye and the thoughtful gift her mother had put around her neck...a monogrammed pendant to remind her of her mom and dad back home.
