Slowly, we crept through the dark, narrow corridor of the cave. With our torches lifted above our heads, we searched the rocks high and low. We were on a quest for the carving that would match the amulet inscribed with the cryptic UT cipher, for it would release the magic lock on the door to the inner chamber. Suddenly, someone shouted, "I found it!" Impulsively, our leader, ripped the enchanted amulet from the leather cord around his neck, positioning it face down, locking it into place-the earth beings to quake. We stood like statues, watching the doors slowly slide apart, revealing the golden treasure that was hidden centuries ago.

This “UT” monogram is from the book, A Complete Book of Monograms and Ciphers, by the heraldic Artist, A.A. Turbayne (1906) London, England. The smooth background of this pendant brings the monogram to the forefront of the piece. In lovely contrast to the smooth background, the “chain” detailed bail really shines bright.
